aboutMe

Hailing from San Diego, California, Ryan Appleby has always had a passion to create, embracing graphic design, writing, and music.  Appleby found his love for making music, singing, and writing songs while he was in the second grade, and shortly after, he started producing in different Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs).  “I love the way music makes me feel,” he said. “Throughout my life, it has proven to be the easiest way for me to express my thoughts and emotions.”  With no formal training Appleby taught himself programs such as Photoshop, Logic Pro x, etc. so he could make his records and create cover art that goes along with his music.  Inspired by a wide range of genres, including Pop, Hip-Hop, Country, R&B, etc.  Appleby writes movingly about relationships, friends, and heartbreak. “Simple topics everyone goes through,” he said. “I want people to know that I’ve gone through those experiences as well.” His remix of Lil Mosey’s “Burberry Headband” drew more than 14k plays on SoundCloud and 3k on YouTube.  After 10 years of music production, his goal remains unwavering: “To create music that people can be inspired by and relate to.” He wants to “create lyrics you like so much that you would tattoo them on your arm.” With a broad range of music style, Appleby offers something for all types of listeners.  Not only does Appleby thrive while operating in the music department,  but he also has a passion for photography and visual arts as well.  Just like in music he is inspired by a wide range of categories.  He said, "Some of the categories I like to work in are: Portrait photography, Minimalism, Miniature Photography, and Magical Realism, just to name a few".  He also loves taking images and messing around with them in photoshop to not only give them a new look, but a stronger and a more engaging presence.  "Images and music are closely related," he said "a song or photograph can be perceived one way visually, but viewed totally differently emotionally.  Its about trying to combine those two elements to create an unforgettable piece that I feel eager to share.  Appleby says, "I really push myself hard, and continue to try new creative techniques in order to hone my skills and work at being the best I can be."  He said, " Its hard to describe just how passionate I am about the arts in words, but I am confident in my ability, and I think my passion and my love for creating is shown through my work."
